Russia gives preliminary conclusions on chemical attack in Syria

Russia said that elements of the terrorist group Tahrir Al-Sham used 120mm artillery shells containing toxic substances to fire on the Syrian city of Aleppo on November 24.

On November 25, spokesman for the Russian Army's Chemical, Biological and Radiological Defense Forces Konstantin Potyomkin said that elements of the terrorist group Tahrir Al-Sham (formerly known as the al-Nusra Front) used 120mm artillery shells containing toxic substances to fire at the Syrian city of Aleppo on November 24.

"Initial analysis of the fragments shows that the terrorists used homemade 120mm artillery shells filled with toxic substances," Potyomkin told reporters.

On November 24, Syrian rebels were said to have fired chlorine-filled shells into two neighborhoods of Aleppo city, al-Khalidiye and Al Zahraa, along with Nile Street.

According to Syrian media, about 107 people were hospitalized due to the attack.

The victims were hospitalized with difficulty breathing and symptoms typical of poisoning.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said 46 people, including eight children, were injured in the chemical attack.

On November 25, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenko said that the country's military had sent chemical experts to the Syrian city of Aleppo to investigate the attack.
