Russia gives Ukraine ultimatum to restructure $3 billion debt
According to AFP, the Kremlin confirmed on December 8 that Russia had made a final offer to Ukraine on restructuring Kiev's debt as a deadline this month approaches, which could push the Eastern European country into default.

"Russia put forward a proposal on restructuring, but unfortunately our interlocutors did not accept this initiative. There will be no other proposals from the Russian side," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Moscow and Kiev are locked in a dispute over a $3 billion loan that Russia gave to former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in 2013, before pro-Western protests led to his ouster.
Last month, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow was ready to extend the repayment period for the loan for three years.
Meanwhile, on the same day, US Vice President Joe Biden warned Moscow that the West would only put more pressure if Russia continued to "act aggressively" against neighboring Ukraine./.
