Russia: Two biggest military exercises in decades

The purpose of the exercises is to test combat readiness and coordination between fleets when performing ocean-going missions.

Russian warships are preparing to enter the stage of training to counter sudden, lightning attacks from the air and sea, including terrorist and pirate attacks.

The Black Sea exercise calls for joint action between naval and air forces to counter and neutralize attacks by missile patrol boats.

At the same time, the two landing ships Kaliningrad and Alexander Shabalin, after receiving weapons and marines at the port of Novorossisk on January 20, will today train marines to land in a dangerous area in the Southwestern Caucasus Sea.

Meanwhile, the Command of the two exercises has been transferred to the Black Sea Fleet's missile cruiser Moskva, which is present in the Mediterranean region.
