Russia: Thousands protest against corruption
More than 600 people were arrested during illegal anti-corruption protests held in Moscow on March 26, the head of the local department of regional security and anti-corruption Vladimir Chernikov said.

Russian police estimated the number of protesters at about 7,000.
The protests took place in 99 cities across Russia, from Vladivostok in the Far East to Kaliningrad in the West. Of these, the authorities declared 17 protest sites illegal because they were not authorized.

Hundreds of people have been arrested for public order violations, including Moscow opposition leader Aleksei Navalny, who was also the instigator of the 2011-2012 protests.
