According to her, for many years, the red thread in all discussions, contacts and conferences of the international community on the subject of Syria has been chemical weapons.
She stressed that chemical weapons were destroyed with the participation of Western countries.
"Chemical weapons, as Western colleagues claim, were used by Damascus. Russia has repeatedly said that this is not the case, it was a provocation," Zakharova said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman assessed that accusing Russia of using chemical weapons, even in the UK, is aimed at excluding this country from the discussion on chemical weapons in the Middle East, especially in Syria.
In Salisbury, England, on March 4, former intelligence colonel Sergei Skripal, who worked for the British special services, and his daughter were poisoned. The British side affirmed that the Russian State was involved in the "poisoning" of Skripal. Russia firmly denied all accusations.
