"This year marks the first time that most of the pilots performing in the skies over Red Square have fought in Syria. They deserve to receive noble medals for their loyalty to the country and fulfilling their duties on the battlefield," said the Air Force Commander-in-Chief.

Colonel Bondarev also said that the parade on May 9 was prepared very elaborately and magnificently. Russia will show its people and the world its most powerful military weapons.

To participate in this Parade, the Federal Air Force Command prepared for half a year in advance. They carefully planned and thoroughly understood the techniques and flight procedures to ensure that planes and helicopters performed safely in the skies above Red Square.

"About 3 months ago, we conducted a test demonstration for the crews. Then we carefully confirmed and reported to the Minister and the Government for approval" - said the Commander-in-Chief.

The first aerobatic group will be the "Russian Knights", with a performance by the Su-30SM fighter complex. Parallel to the ground will be the appearance of the S-400 missile defense system that Russia deployed in Syria to protect its air base in this Middle Eastern country.

In particular, the Pantsir-SA air defense missile system appeared for the first time in the parade. This system is equipped with a dual-band active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar developed by the SKB Design Complex. With this radar, the surveillance range of the Pantsir-SA increases to 75 km, and the missile's firing range reaches 40 km./.
