The Russian Government's representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) - Alexander Shulgin - has called on the organization not to allow actions related to the use of chemical weapons in Idlib.
“The OPCW must use its influence on this issue and not allow provocations to take place,” Shulgin told Ruptly. “There are many delegates who agree with this view. We emphasize that we must do everything possible to prevent this provocation,” the official added.
On September 11, Russian soldiers reported evidence suggesting that members of the “White Helmets” organization had reenacted scenes of “helping” residents of Jisr al-Shughur in northwestern Idlib after a so-called “poison bomb” attack that was widely reported to have been carried out by Syrian military forces.
The Russian military also revealed that the rebels brought containers filled with chlorine toxins to the area to make the provocation look authentic.
According to the military, all the fake videos were sent to regional and international television stations, after being released by terrorist forces on social media on the evening of September 11.
