Russia is not very interested in the G8 group.
(Baonghean.vn) - The group of 20 leading industrialized countries in the world (abbreviated as G20) has the ability to influence international issues more than the G8 - the group of 8 developed industries that Russia is gradually losing interest in. That was the statement of Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on May 16.

When asked about the possibility of Russia returning to the G8, Mr. Peskov told RIA Novosti: “In general, it can be seen that relations with existing institutions are mentioned a lot at forums and meetings, and of course the G20 has proven to have a stronger presence and higher capacity in the current international context. This group has enormous potential.”
The Kremlin spokesman affirmed that Russia first needs to determine whether it is necessary for the country to return to the G8.
“Of course, if we consider Russia's participation or non-participation in one form or another, first of all, everyone needs to understand clearly whether Russia has any intention to carry out such actions, so now Russia's interest in the G8 is not as great as before,” Peskov said.
Earlier, spokesman Dmitry Peskov also noted that restoring the G8 group was not on Russia's agenda, as the country expressed more interest in cooperating with G20 countries.
