US President Donald Trump has accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of treason amid his impeachment inquiry by the House of Representatives. Referring to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, President Trump posted on Twitter on October 6: “Nancy Pelosi knows all about Adam Schiff’s lies and deceit to Congress and the American people. This makes Nancy guilty of high crimes and low crimes, as well as treason, just like Adam Schiff. I think this means they and the bad guys around them should all be impeached immediately.”

Before criticizing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, President Trump accused Mr. Schiff of treason. On September 30, the US leader posted on social media: “Congressman Adam Schiff made a terrible and false statement and passed it off as my statement in the most important part of the call with the President of Ukraine. He then read it aloud to Congress and the American people. It has nothing to do with what I said on the call. Should he be arrested for treason?”

The country's military sent new reinforcements to the border along with nearly 100 tanks and armored vehicles.

If the attack is carried out, it will be Türkiye's third offensive since 2016 to curb Kurdish influence in Syria. The objective of this campaign is to firstly counter the Kurdish militia (YPG) which Turkey considers a security threat and secondly to create a 32km safe zone in Syria where two million Syrians are resettled. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have long been a core of the Kurdish militia (YPG) which has links with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) which is considered a terrorist organization in Turkey.

On October 8, the UK announced adjustments to the tariff regime applicable in the event that the country leaves the European Union (EU) - also known as Brexit - without an agreement, thereby allowing 88% of the total value of imported goods to apply for tax exemption.

With the aim of limiting consumer price increases without harming domestic producers, the new “special review process” allows the UK to make changes to its tariff regime from day one if necessary. “The UK is a free-trade country and British businesses are well-positioned to compete in an open and free environment,” said Conor Burns, the UK Trade Policy Secretary.
