Russia immediately responds to Ukraine over 'Hamburg' sanctions
The intention of the Ukrainian authorities - to try to introduce new sanctions against Russia - is contrary to the norms of international law. That is the statement of Anton Morozov, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma.
With such remarks, Mr. Morozov commented on the statement of the Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany, Andrei Melnik, saying that Kiev would seek to impose "Hamburg" sanctions against Moscow if Russia did not immediately release the Ukrainian sailors detained after the incident in the Kerch Strait.
“The Ukrainian side has the opportunity to send representatives to defend the interests of its citizens in Russian courts and prove their innocence if they consider the sailors innocent... As is clear, the sailors committed a criminal offense on the territory of the Russian Federation,” - said Mr. Morozov.
Earlier, the UN International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea ordered Moscow to release 24 sailors and three Ukrainian Navy ships seized by Russia for violating the Russian border in November.
