(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of Vietnam's Day for People with Disabilities (April 18), let's take a look at 5 typical examples of people with disabilities whose determination and talent have made many people admire them.

Suffering from a strange disease that causes her body parts to shrink as they grow, forcing her to use a wheelchair, but like her brother - Knight Nguyen Cong Hung, Nguyen Thao Van (Nghi Dien, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province) has strived to become the Director of the Will to Live Center, creating jobs for people in the same situation.

Students of the Will to Live Center are young people with disabilities from all over the country. Every day, Van and volunteers of the Will to Live Center spend a lot of time providing free training in IT, English and creative subjects, and organizing soft skills programs for students.

Weightlifter Le Van Cong won the first Gold Medal for Vietnam at the Paralympics on the morning of September 9, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, breaking the world record and the Paralympic record in the men's 49 kg weight class.

Le Van Cong suffers from leg atrophy because his mother had dengue fever while pregnant with him. His wife and two children currently live in Long An. In addition to training and competing, Le Van Cong also opened an electronics repair shop and participated in vocational training to earn extra income.

The example of determination of the blind boy Bui Ngoc Thinh from Khanh Hoa, known to everyone for his ability to play many musical instruments and has been recognized by the Asian Record Organization.

Since the age of 6, Thinh has been familiar with the drum set, then discovered the classical guitar, then tried his hand at the organ, the zither, the fiddle, most recently the zither, the metal zither and conquered the piano. As the only child in a family with both parents being blind, but with the love of his parents and his constant efforts to learn, Thinh has now been able to play more than a hundred songs on many different instruments.

Nguyen Son Lam – conquering Fansipan with wooden crutches

Originally from Quang Ninh, right from birth, due to the effects of Agent Orange left over from the war, he suffered from skeletal deformities that left his limbs weak. When his peers started going to kindergarten to learn to read and write, Lam had to stay home because his health could not keep up.

Worried that he was not as good as his friends, his mother collected books, newspapers, and stories about people who overcame difficulties to tell him. With great encouragement from his mother, Nguyen Son Lam gradually overcame his inferiority complex about his disability.

After finishing grade 12, he passed the entrance exams to 2 universities. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of TOA SANG Training & Communication Joint Stock Company, and is also a professional speaker. Not only that, as a foreign language enthusiast, he can speak 3 languages ​​fluently: English, Japanese, and French. Notably, with a body of less than 27kg and a height of about 90cm, in October 2011, he was the first person to successfully conquer Fansipan peak - the roof of Indochina - using wooden crutches.

At the Vietnam's Got Talent 2011 contest, the brittle bone girl Nguyen Phuong Anh unexpectedly entered the final round and became widely known. Currently, Phuong Anh is studying at Viet Duc High School. Although she has a terrible disease, she does not live a closed or lonely life.
