Earlier on October 21, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said that the US and its allies will continue to discuss new economic sanctions against Russia, related to the crisis in Syria.

“In case the US expanded list of embargoes and sanctions is groundless and unreasonable, we will take retaliatory measures. This means that the balance will change, and it will not be in the interests of the US,” Ryabkov told RIA Novosti.

Mr. Ryabkov also added that it seemed that the US wanted to completely sabotage bilateral relations with Russia by making such a statement.

“It seems that the US administration has no other concerns than to completely destroy relations with Russia. Therefore, it will take many years to restore these relations,” Mr. Ryabkov said.

The West blames Russia and the Syrian government for bombings allegedly targeting civilians and armed opposition groups in Syria.

However, Russia and the Syrian government stressed that the attacks only targeted terrorist areas and accused the US of being completely incapable of distinguishing between the so-called "moderate opposition" and terrorists.
