Russia comments on US delay in aid to Ukraine.
The Russian government has issued an official comment regarding the recent suspension of missile and artillery aid packages to Ukraine by the US Department of Defense.
In an interview with TASS news agency today (July 2), Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented that the West's reduction or cessation of arms supplies to Ukraine reflects the fact that the conflict is nearing its end.
"As we understand it, the reason for this decision is that the warehouses are empty and there is a shortage of weapons in those places. However, in any case, the reduced supply of weapons to Ukraine means that the special military operation is nearing its end," Peskov said.
Earlier, Western media, citing several unnamed senior US officials, revealed that US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had ordered a temporary halt to aid shipments, primarily missiles and ammunition, to Ukraine.
Ukraine denies reports that Russia has seized control of the village of Dachne in Dnipropetrovsk.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has confirmed that the village of Dachne in the Dnipropetrovsk province of eastern Ukraine remains under Kyiv's control.
“Ukrainian units continue to repel Russian attempts to cross the border between the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk provinces. Despite repeated deployments of small infantry and reconnaissance groups, the Russians have failed to achieve their objectives. Furthermore, the enemy's claim of controlling the 'bridgehead' (the village of Dachne) in the Dnipropetrovsk province is false, as it remains under Ukrainian control,” reads a July 2 statement from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to maps from Ukraine's Deep State website, the village of Dachne is located near the border between the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk provinces and remains under the control of Kyiv's forces. The gray zone, the area where fighting is taking place between Ukrainian and Russian forces, is located just south of the village.
