"For example, we have the Su-30MKI — an international project, this is a fourth-generation aircraft. There is a program to modernize this fighter, and it is also intended for the Indian Air Force with a significant improvement of its technical characteristics," — said Rosoboronexport Director General Alexander Mikheev.
He also stressed that the sanctions and unfriendly policy over the past few years towards Russia has pushed Russian defense enterprises to create equipment that is not inferior to Western counterparts, especially optoelectronic systems and engine systems for helicopters and ships.
In India, the Su-30MKI fighter jet is manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The previous contract signed between Russia and India stipulated the purchase and licensed production of 270 fighters of this type. Later, the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation said that New Delhi had sent a request to Russia to purchase an additional batch of components for the assembly of these aircraft.
