"To begin with, I have instructed the State Department to file a lawsuit in court, and we will see how well the much-vaunted American judicial system will work," the President said at a press conference on the results of the BRICS Summit.
According to President Putin, Washington has deprived Russia of its ability to use national assets.
"As for buildings and structures — this is truly unprecedented. I, as a graduate of the law faculty of St. Petersburg State University, can tell you what any lawyer will tell you: Property rights consist of three elements — the right to possess, use and control," the Russian leader said.
Moscow called Washington's actions a "robber seizure" of Russian diplomatic property.
