Russia uses most 'formidable' missiles to attack Odessa
(Baonghean.vn) - The International Business Times (USA) reported that Russia used its most formidable missile arsenal in the attacks on Odessa. And Ukraine's air defense forces were unable to shoot down any of them.

According to the International Business Times, Russia used its most formidable missile weapons in the most powerful shelling of the Ukrainian port city of Odessa, including at least seven P-800 Onyx cruise missiles launched from the Bastion coastal missile system in Crimea.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force announced on Facebook: “The Russian military attacked the southern regions of Ukraine on the night of July 19-20. During the attack, Russian missiles targeted the cities of Odessa and Mikolaev. They fired a total of 38 projectiles, including 19 cruise missiles and 19 suicide drones.”
Ukrainian air defense forces claimed to have shot down 18 targets, including two Kalibr sea-based cruise missiles, three Iskander-K land-based cruise missiles, and 13 Shahed-136/131 attack drones. However, no P-800 Oniks missiles were shot down.
The International Business Times noted that the P-800 Onyx is a hypersonic missile, capable of reaching high speeds, designed to fly at low altitudes, making it very difficult to intercept with the latest air defense systems.
“No P-800 Onyx cruise missiles were intercepted or shot down by the Ukrainian military,” International Business Times reported.
According to the US Army's International Military Research Laboratory, one of the interesting features of the Onyx missile is its guidance system, which can work very intelligently. The missiles are fired simultaneously, capable of classifying targets and selecting the appropriate attack plan. After one target is destroyed, the remaining missiles will automatically attack the next target. In addition, the missile has an active radar seeker and is designed to attack valuable targets.
