Russia focuses on developing strategic nuclear forces in 2015
According to Xinhua News Agency, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov said on December 29 that the country's military will focus on developing strategic nuclear forces in 2015, in the context that Moscow continues to improve its combat capabilities.
Speaking to a Russian television channel, Mr. Gerasimov stressed: “Developing strategic nuclear forces is a top priority.”

In addition, according to Mr. Gerasimov, three regiments of the Strategic Missile Forces have been re-equipped with the new Yars intercontinental ballistic missile system, while four Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic bombers have been upgraded and put into operation in 2014.
Mr. Gerasimov added that two advanced radar systems have been deployed in Kaliningrad and Irkutsk, and two more have been tested in Barnaul and Yeniseisk this year and are expected to be officially put into combat duty next year.
