Russia wins billion-dollar contract to supply air defense equipment to India
Russia has won a tender to supply India with short-range air defense equipment worth $1.5 billion, a source in the system of military-technical cooperation told Sputnik.

"Our Igla (man-portable air defense missile system) won," a source from the agency said.
On the eve of the NDTV channel, citing local military sources, said that Rosoboronexport offered the most favorable conditions for the supply of short-range air defense missile systems. European companies SAAB and MBDA also participated in the tender.
Russia and India are leading partners in the field of military-technical cooperation: more than 70% of weapons and military equipment of the Indian army, air force and navy come from Russia and the former Soviet Union. Every year, Russia supplies India with equipment and weapons worth several billion dollars.
In October, Rosoboronexport signed a contract with India for the supply of S-400 air defense missile systems worth more than $5 billion. The deal is considered the largest in the company's history.
