Russia inspects Latvia and Denmark ahead of NATO drills
Russia will inspect a 16,000 square kilometer area of Latvia, and a similar area of Denmark from September 24 to 27, the Russian Defense Ministry's Red Star newspaper said.

From September 23 to 26, Russian military inspectors will inspect two regions of Latvia and Denmark within the framework of the 2011 Vienna Document on strengthening confidence and security.
Russia will inspect a 16,000 square kilometer area of Latvia, and a similar area of Denmark from September 24 to 27, the Russian Defense Ministry's Red Star newspaper said.
As part of the inspection, Russian experts will visit barracks and training areas, receive reports on military units stationed in the region, on military activities, including the joint exercise "Silver Arrow-2019" between the infantry forces of Latvia, Albania, Canada, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Estonia, which is scheduled to begin on September 23.
For its part, within the framework of the Vienna Document, Latvia also asked Armenia to allow inspections of the area from September 24 to 27.
The Vienna Document is a set of measures to strengthen trust and security to reduce military conflicts in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) region. According to this document, member states annually exchange information on military forces, weapons systems and technology, on defense plans and defense budgets.
