Kalashnikov Concern, Russia, released a video testing a new 8-bladed battery-powered flying motorcycle, Mirror reported on September 26. The test took place in the city of Izhevsk, Udmurtia, with the participation of Sergey Cheremezov, president of the Russian Association of Mechanical Engineers.
The new model has eight propellers and a seat in the middle, with batteries mounted at the back. The pilot controls the car with a joystick that changes the direction of the propellers. In the test video, the car only flies a few meters high at a speed of no more than a few kilometers per hour.
Kalashnikov Concern has not yet announced the height and top speed of the new model. The final image of the video may be the finished model with a fiberglass frame wrapped around the body, looking like a racing car.
The new vehicle is designed to carry a person and cargo, Kalashnikov Concern said. However, the company has not yet announced which market the vehicle is aimed at. "The new vehicle is in the final stages of development. We will show its practical application in the near future," said Sofia Ivanova, a spokeswoman for Kalashnikov Concern.
In addition to weapons, Kalashnikov Concern has diversified its products in recent years. It is also testing several electric motorcycles for police use, which promise to be more mobile than cars and environmentally friendly.
