(Baonghean.vn) - On July 7, senior Russian lawmaker Konstantin Kosachev said that Iran's demands regarding the goal of maintaining the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA - the official name of the 2015 nuclear agreement between Tehran and world powers) are reasonable, while the responsibility for maintaining the nuclear agreement belongs to the US.

Mr. Kosachev stated: "All of Iran's actions are legal. The original JCPOA was "blown up" by the US... Therefore, the ball is now in the US court, and only Washington can save the agreement."

Sharing the same view, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna (Austria), Mr. Mikhail Ulyanov affirmed that Moscow understands the reasons behind Iran's steps related to the JCPOA, but called on Tehran to refrain from actions that could further complicate the situation.

According to Mr. Ulyanov, Iran's decision to increase the level of uranium enrichment is not surprising, because Tehran is acting transparently. The Russian official emphasized that it is possible to determine the level of Iran's uranium enrichment within the next few days, and said that the report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Tehran's uranium enrichment level may be presented at a special session of the agency's board of directors on July 10.

On the same day, an IAEA spokesman said that the agency's inspectors in Iran will report to headquarters as soon as they verify information that Tehran has enriched uranium to a level higher than allowed in the nuclear deal.
