According to TASS, Russia has just decided to equip 5 types of weapons with superior features compared to its opponents, including the new version of RSZO Tornado-S rocket artillery.

Five new weapons systems with outstanding potential, as revealed by TASS, include a tank support combat vehicle, the RSZO Tornado-S long-range multiple launch rocket system with new missiles, the Tor-M2 short-range air defense missile system, and the Taifun-K and Taifun-U armored vehicles.

The special thing about the Tornado-S system is that along with its enormous destructive power, the manufacturer also equips it with high-precision satellite-positioned missiles.

"The modern RSZO Tornado-S multiple launch complex will receive a high-precision long-range missile with a GLONASS signal guidance system. The new product is developed and produced by the Splav Scientific-Production Association (NPO)," a senior representative of the Russian military said.

The new Tornado-S missile has now completed its tests. The key feature of the RSZO Tornado-S is the new automatic guidance and firing system, which will significantly increase the accuracy of fire, reducing the time it takes to deploy the complex from a moving to a combat state. When fully equipped, the Tornado-S will replace the RSZO Smerch and Grad artillery duo.

Tornado-S is one of three versions of the Tornado multiple launch rocket system - a lightweight and general-purpose variant of the BM-30 Smerch. The Tornado system was first introduced in 2007 to replace older Russian multiple launch rocket systems such as the BM-21 Grad, BM-27 Uragan and BM-30 Smerch.

According to the introduction of Mr. Vitaly Khomenok - "Father" of the Tornado-S Multiple Launch Rocket System and its versions, with comparison data fully collected by computer, he affirmed that Tornado-S has a power second only to nuclear bombs.

Tornado-S is a long-range multiple launch missile system, designed to destroy targets up to 120km away. This weapon began undergoing capability tests in late 2012, and by 2014 Tornado-S as well as other versions of Tornado were officially in service with the Russian Army.

Tornado-S can be equipped with 9M55K, 9M55K1, 9M55K4, 9M55K5, 9M55F, 9M55S, 9M528 ammunition with a range of 20 to 120km. In addition, the warhead mounted on the ammunition of the Tornado system is capable of penetrating the armor of armored vehicles and infantry vehicles.

To increase the effectiveness of the target attack, Tornado-S is integrated with a completely new automatic guidance system that allows for increased accuracy and calculation of multi-target attack data. Tornado-S conducts automatic aiming based on reconnaissance data received from satellites.

In case of an emergency, the firing can be carried out manually directly from the vehicle cabin in a matter of minutes. The entire control of the multiple launch rocket system is simplified, allowing for faster action than the famous Grad system.

In addition to Tornado-S, Tonardo has two other versions, U and G; of which, type G contains 2 launchers, each with 15 122mm missiles, while type U is equipped with 2 launchers, each with 8 220mm missiles.

According to the plan, about 40 Tornado multiple launch rocket systems will be put into service with the artillery and mechanized infantry of Russia's Western Military District. In addition, the Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system will replace Russia's Grad and Smerch rocket systems by 2020 under Moscow's comprehensive weapons upgrade program.
