Western intelligence agencies say they have recorded intense activity by Russian military aviation near the border with Ukraine.

Avia.pro cited information from Western intelligence saying that the current situation on the border between Russia and Russia shows that Moscow is sending more aircraft to the area, possibly preparing to launch a large-scale attack along the entire front line.

According to Western intelligence, Moscow is stockpiling planes and helicopters near the border with Ukraine. With growing concerns about a possible more powerful air strike, Ukraine's Western allies have rallied to supply Kiev with air defense systems and artillery shells.

A senior NATO diplomat told the Financial Times that the US did not expect a major air strike in Ukraine to be imminent, but intelligence showed that more than 80% of the Russian air force was combat-ready.

“We believe that Russia is preparing to launch a major air campaign,” the NATO official added.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine and the West expected a new Russian offensive to be held in February, which could lead to the final seizure of control over the territories of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic (LPR).

Russia has not yet made any official statement about the information released by Western intelligence.
