Russia and North Korea discuss bringing bilateral relations “to new heights”
Senior North Korean official Ryu Myong-son and Russian Senator Andrey Klimov held talks in Moscow, pledging to work to develop bilateral relations "to a new level."

According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), at the meeting, the two sides pledged to make efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.
Mr. Ryu Ryu Myong-son stressed the need to "develop bilateral relations to a new level."
For his part, Mr. Klimov expressed full support for the WPK's new strategy of focusing on economic development.
Ryu Myong-son led a North Korean delegation to Russia on October 22 amid media reports that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is planning to visit Russia later this month or early next month.
Earlier, Moscow confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a summit with Kim Jong-un this year.
On October 12, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Russian President Vladimir Putin exchanged congratulatory letters to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Kim Jong-un affirmed that Moscow-Pyongyang relations are developed on the basis of "the principles of mutual respect, good neighborliness and mutual interests," and expressed hope that the "strategic and traditional" relationship between Russia and North Korea will "continue to develop steadily and constructively in accordance with the requirements of the new era."
Meanwhile, President Putin's message stated that bilateral relations continue to develop. He affirmed that Moscow and Pyongyang "will further strengthen all mutual relations, including the trilateral program with South Korea."
