Russia-China strengthen military-political cooperation amid 'more restless' world
(Baonghean.vn) - Russia and China will strengthen bilateral security cooperation. According to experts, Moscow and Beijing want to prove to the world that Russia and China will cooperate closely to eliminate threats that may arise on the path of development.

On the sidelines of the Xiangshan Forum in Beijing (China), Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China Zhang Youxia met and made a statement: Moscow and Beijing develop communication lines in the military-political field.
“This meeting will help strengthen relations between the two countries' defense ministries, as well as stabilize regional and global security,” said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
According to Minister Shoigu, Russian-Chinese relations are developing actively, in the context of a “more restless” military-political situation in the world.
“New hotspots of tension are emerging, and old hotspots are escalating. This is essentially the result of geopolitical adventures. In contrast to this alarming situation, a comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between Russia and China is being built,” the Russian Defense Minister asserted, calling the bilateral relations between Moscow and Beijing exemplary, and this model is increasingly attractive to other countries.
It is worth noting that Russia and China are strengthening relations in the military-technical sphere, mainly through joint exercises. Thus, in July, the Russian-Chinese naval exercises took place. The South China Morning Post assessed that Russia has become China's main partner, conducting the most military exercises with China in the past 10 years. In particular, this trend takes place in the context of increasing tensions between China and the West.
Furthermore, Russia and China have agreed to expand the scope of naval exercises in 2024 to include land maneuvers.
In addition to joint exercises and patrols, in the field of military cooperation, Russia and China also focus on issues such as space security and biosecurity.

Russian military expert Yury Knutov analyzed that the military relationship between Russia and China has been developing strongly in recent years. This stems from the countries' goals of strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation and the general geopolitical context, especially the increasingly serious international situation in the Asia-Pacific region. The Pentagon and US generals have repeatedly publicly stated that the conflict between the US and China over the Taiwan issue could begin in 2025. These threats have increased tensions in the region.
For that reason, China is very interested in the strengthening of relations between the Russian Armed Forces and the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
“Russia has a lot of rich experience in combat, in the Northern Military District. It is fundamentally different from what most armies in the world are preparing. Accordingly, the experience of the Russian army is unique. Therefore, cooperation in exchanging knowledge and combat skills is the most important area of interaction between the Chinese army and the Russian Armed Forces,” said Russian military expert Yury Knutov.
In return, Russia also has many benefits from cooperation with China, which is a priority for Moscow. According to expert Knutov, Russia is mainly interested in receiving military technologies or modern, high-tech military equipment models from China. This will help the Russian military-industrial complex quickly set up production of the types of weapons that the Russian Armed Forces need.
The head of the Russia-China Analytical Center, Sergei Sanakoev, said that the difference between Moscow and Beijing is that they are trying to solve their problems through diplomatic means. However, the West's confrontational policy towards Russia and China leaves the two countries no other choice but to increasingly coordinate their armed forces and coordinate combat operations./.
