Russia and China will join forces to build a new world order to counter US dominance.
(Baonghean.vn) - This is the opinion of Japanese political analyst Taisuke Abiru when referring to the Belt and Road Forum recently held in Beijing. At this event, Russian President Vladimir Putin was welcomed with special warmth.
According to Russia's TASS news agency, a Japanese political analyst said that talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping earlier this year showed that Moscow and Beijing are ready to join forces to build a new system of international relations that can replace the US-centered world order.
“The meeting in Moscow between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin in March was mainly aimed at supporting Russia’s positions globally, including on Ukraine, even if it is accepted that Beijing does not fully support hostilities in that country,” Taisuke Abiru, senior researcher at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, told TASS.
“I think there is a consensus between China and Russia that the two countries will build a new multipolar world order as an alternative to what they believe is an unjust world order based on US dominance,” he added.
Abiru, who has written several books on Russia, pointed to the recent Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, where Putin was given a particularly warm welcome. "The Russian president spoke at the forum right after the Chinese leader. This clearly shows that China sees the Russian leader as an important guest at the event," the expert explained.
The two leaders of Russia and China held talks after the official opening ceremony of China's third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held in Beijing on October 17-18. The forum was attended by more than 4,000 delegates from over 140 countries.
The Belt and Road Initiative, a concept first mentioned by Xi Jinping in 2013, aims to symbolically recreate the ancient Silk Road. The goal is to give China access to markets in Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and other parts of the world, as well as to enhance international trade and investment projects involving multiple countries using Chinese and foreign capital. More than 150 countries and more than 30 international organizations have joined the initiative.
