"We continue to make progress. The Supreme Commander has not revealed everything we have in our arsenal,"Army RecognitionMarch 26 quoted a statement by Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov on Rossiya 1 TV channel.

According to General Borisov, President Vladimir Putin's recent announcement of a number of new weapons is not intended to threaten or launch a new arms race but to create balance.

"It is a warning that in the current circumstances no country in the world can unilaterally gain superiority or dominance in such a dangerous area as weapons development," the Russian Deputy Defense Minister stressed. "There will always be measures to counter emerging challenges."

Mr Borisov also warned the US to abandon its rhetoric that Washington is now the world's number one power. "The planet is very small and fragile, so we need to get along with each other," he said.

In his state-of-the-nation address on March 1, President Putin unveiled many new weapons, including nuclear-powered cruise missiles and unmanned torpedoes under the Status-6 project. He also mentioned the Kinzhal hypersonic anti-ship missile, the RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile and the Avangard hypersonic glide vehicle, which can overcome all missile shields of the US and its allies.
