Speaking at a press conference, Mr. Ryabkov stated: "I see no reason to review our military doctrine. This is a fundamental document with a modern perspective, and the wording of this document has been thoroughly checked. This document should not be adjusted depending on different circumstances.
Of course, eventually every document needs to be reviewed, and some aspects of it need to be clarified, but I see no reason to do this in the current situation regarding the INF Treaty.
In addition, Mr. Ryabkov emphasized, Russia's reaction to the possibility of the US deploying missiles would be aimed at eliminating the threat to national security.
"We will carefully analyze what is happening. Our response steps will be aimed at eliminating threats that Russia may face from various directions," the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister said.
According to Mr. Ryabkov, Russia's decision on where to deploy the missiles will depend on Washington's steps. However, Mr. Ryabkov stressed that it is too early to decide on retaliatory steps.
Also at the press conference, this senior Russian diplomat criticized Washington's imposition of sanctions on Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, calling it unprecedented pressure./.
