In an exclusive interview with TASS news agency after talks with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed: "Both Washington and Moscow feel disappointed with the current relationship between the two countries. It has never been so complicated, the worst in all times. This is the legacy of the Barack Obama administration."

He added that Russia has been very interested in the statements of current President Donald Trump about changes in policy and attitude towards Russia, while he was running for election. However, so far, there has been no improvement in diplomacy between Russia and the US. Even Russian President Vladimir Putin also commented that "the level of trust between the two countries, especially in military matters, has not only not improved but also shown signs of worsening".

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his US counterpart Rex Tillerson agreed on the need to maintain communication channels between Moscow and Washington.
