The navies of Russia and China will conduct bilateral naval exercises "Interaction at Sea" in late April and early May, according to the Ministry of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Defense Ministry.

It is known that the Chinese Navy delegation, led by Rear Admiral Yan Zhenming, arrived in St. Petersburg a day ago to attend the conference with the participation of a delegation of officers from the Russian Navy Command, led by Rear Admiral Alexander Shuvanov. Representatives of both countries have started consultations on the preparation of the exercises since March 25.

The source added that within the framework of the "Maritime Interaction 2019" exercise, Russian and Chinese sailors will carry out joint coordination maneuvers, organize communications, carry out missile and artillery fire at sea and air targets, as well as solve search and rescue issues.

In addition to the forces operating at sea, the joint exercise will also include naval aviation of the Chinese Navy and diesel-electric submarines of both countries.

In addition, it is expected that the Pacific Fleet's flotilla will be led by the flagship of the Pacific Fleet - the missile cruiser Varyag.
