Russia compares US missile shield to a leaky umbrella
The Russian Defense Minister said that the defense shield systems deployed by the US and NATO in Eastern Europe and Alaska have many loopholes.

"It's really just an anti-missile umbrella with lots of holes,"InterfaxMarch 1 quoted Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu's statement about the missile defense shield that the US and its NATO allies are deploying in Europe and Alaska.
Mr. Shoigu emphasized thatThese vulnerabilities became apparent after Russian President Vladimir Putin unveiled a host of Moscow's new nuclear weapons in his state-of-the-nation address yesterday.
In this message, Mr. Putin said that Russia has developed a new type of nuclear cruise missile with unlimited attack range and can penetrate any missile defense system.
Russian Defense Minister saidthat NATO members are seeking to drag Russia into a new arms race, but that Russia's new nuclear weapons will help prevent that from happening.
According to Mr. Putin, the whole world now has to listen to Russia, because this country possesses many modern weapons, including "invincible" missiles that can carry hypersonic warheads that cannot be intercepted.
