Russia: US control of ports in the Far East is tantamount to declaring war
(Baonghean.vn)- On May 5, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federation Council (ie the Upper House) of Russia, Mr. Konstantin Kosachev, declared that the implementation of the bill on US control of Russian ports in the Far East is considered a scenario of force, equivalent to a declaration of war.

Mr. Kosachev expressed hope that this bill will never be implemented because it would be like a scenario of force forcing ships to be searched by US warships. According to Mr. Kosachev, no country or organization in the world, including the United Nations, has authorized the US to do this. Mr. Kosachev emphasized that this is a declaration of war.
Mr. Kosachev's statement was made in the context of the US Congress recently approving the imposition of new restrictions on North Korea. The main objective of this bill is to ensure control of the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions to limit trade between North Korea and other countries. The bill also includes consideration of the possibility of controlling Russian ports in the Far East. The bill is awaiting approval by the Senate before being sent to the President for signature.
