Timely prevention of impersonating police to defraud 1 billion VND
(Baonghean.vn) - Dien Chau District Police informed that the unit has just prevented a case of impersonating a police officer to defraud and appropriate property of local people in the amount of 1 billion VND.
Accordingly, at around 5:00 p.m. on March 3, Dien Yen Commune Police, Dien Chau District received a report from Ms. Le Thi H. (born in 1970), residing in Hamlet 4, Dien Yen Commune, stating that at 1:00 p.m. on the same day, a subject called Ms. H., claiming to be the Captain of the Economic Crime Prevention Investigation Team of Nghe An Provincial Police, informing Ms. H. that a large amount of money deposited at Agribank had been leaked and that if she did not promptly secure it, she would lose the money. After that, the subject threatened Ms. H. to provide related personal information, asking Ms. H. to transfer 1 billion VND to account number 10887516758 under the name of Do Van Quynh at Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade and not to let anyone else know.
Without any suspicion, Ms. H. immediately went to Agribank Yen Ly branch to withdraw her savings book and transfer 1 billion VND to the subject. After transferring the money, she could not contact the subject again, suspecting that she had been scammed, so she reported it to the authorities.

Upon receiving the report, Dien Yen Commune Police urgently reported to the District Police. Under the direction of the District Police leaders, the Criminal Police Team coordinated with Dien Yen Commune Police to immediately request Agribank to temporarily suspend the money transfer transaction made by Ms. H. to serve the verification and investigation..Thereby, promptly preventing the behavior of "fraud and appropriation of property" of bad guys, protecting the great assets of citizens.
On March 6, Dien Chau District Police and Dien Yen Commune Police coordinated with Agribank to return 1 billion VND to Ms. H's family.
The police agency recommends that people need to be vigilant, spread the word to relatives and friends about the above tricks, avoid falling into the trap of bad guys. If working with people, the police agency will directly send invitations, summonses or send them through the commune or town police, absolutely do not ask citizens to transfer money to bank accounts. When detecting cases with signs of fraud as above, people need to immediately report to the nearest police agency.
