Bank confirms no money lost in ATM explosion
(Baonghean.vn) - Representative of Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), Cua Lo Town branch confirmed that no money was lost in the exploded ATM.

On the afternoon of December 22, Mr. Dao Van Khoa - Director of Cua Lo branch of Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), said that he had checked the assets in the exploded ATM.
“The money in the ATM was not lost,” Mr. Khoa affirmed, adding that the bank is working with authorities to investigate the cause of the explosion. However, the director did not disclose how much money was in the ATM at the time of the explosion.

Regarding the incident, Colonel Ho Minh Thang - Chief of Cua Lo Town Police said that the authorities are still investigating, so it is not yet possible to confirm whether the cause of the explosion was self-detonation or sabotage.
Previously, in the early morning of December 22, an explosion occurred at the ATM of the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), Cua Lo Town branch, located next to the gate of Nghe An College of Tourism and Commerce, located at 127 Sao Nam Street.
According to the security guard of Nghe An College of Tourism and Commerce, at around 2:20 a.m., while he was sleeping, he suddenly heard a loud explosion that shook the whole room.

When he went out, he discovered that the ATM next to the security room had exploded, with broken glass flying everywhere. Immediately after discovering the explosion, the security guard called the bank and the Nghi Thu Ward Police (Cua Lo Town).
