The Russian Embassy in the UK announced on July 10 that British officials had refused to issue a visa to a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry to travel to the UK to attend the Global Conference on Press Freedom.

“It is known that the issue of travel visas has become an issue in the current relations between the UK and Russia. However, in this situation, the fact that the UK did not issue visas to representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry who came to the Global Conference on Freedom of the Press is “quite strange”. Because the UK invited Russia to this event, recognized the Russian delegates, but then refused to issue visas to them to prevent their visit. Such incidents usually happen only in the US. The US has on several occasions refused to issue visas to official representatives of other countries who came to attend UN events. Now this practice has been adopted by London,” the statement of the Russian Embassy stated.

North Korea's propaganda website Naenara has just published the full text of the revised constitution, which was approved by the country's parliament in April. The document states that the Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea acts as the supreme leader "representing the country." Under this provision, Mr. Kim Jong-un, who holds the position of Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, is recognized as the head of state.

North Korea's previous constitution stipulated that the chairman of the State Affairs Commission was the country's "supreme leader," while the "representative of the country," or head of state, was the chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly (SAC), the national assembly. Choe Ryong-hae, one of Kim Jong-un's closest officials, was elected as the speaker of the assembly in April.

Experts from the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) believe that it is not the Chinese but the Americans who are bearing the burden of tariffs on imported Chinese goods, and assert that instead of adding revenue, these measures are causing the US national treasury to "shrink".

Experts say that import taxes are paid by importers, not exporters. In addition, US government figures show that total US treasury revenue from May to now is about 20 billion USD and in 2018, budget revenue from tax measures on imported goods from China is 8 billion USD, far from the hundreds of billions of USD that President Trump once expected. CFR experts say that imposing new taxes only makes the US treasury depleted at an increasing rate.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on July 10 to turn the area around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant into a tourist destination. According to the new decree, Ukraine will install water pipes, build new walking routes, upgrade telephone stations and set up checkpoints around the Chernobyl plant to serve tourists. The country will lift the ban on filming and taking photos at Chernobyl and install an electronic ticketing system to combat corruption.

Despite higher-than-normal radiation levels in the area around the Chernobyl plant, thousands of tourists still visit the site each year. Ukraine and Europe on July 11 inaugurated a giant steel dome worth $1.7 billion covering the number 4 nuclear reactor destroyed in the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
