'Disgusted' with parking culture in the city
(Baonghean) - The living standards of Vinh city residents are improving day by day, as evidenced by the increasing number of people buying personal cars. Accordingly, the need for parking spaces is becoming more urgent and causing many problems, especially when many people still have the habit of parking haphazardly, not only obstructing traffic but also spoiling the urban beauty.
Walking around the city, it is not difficult to see many cases of stopping and parking cars haphazardly, especially in alleys and small streets. In many places, drivers stop and park their cars right in front of the gate of the house or the entrance of the road, causing obstruction to the movement of many people.

A car almost "blocked" the entrance to an alley on Doc Thiet street. |
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tri, who lives on Ngo Tuan Street (Hung Binh Ward), said that this was originally a small street and at the beginning of the street there was a household that opened a coffee shop. Many customers driving cars parked their cars blocking the entrance to their houses, making him and some nearby households feel uncomfortable and disagreeable. There were even cases where car drivers parked their cars right in front of the alley, blocking many people in the alley.
Not only in alleys and small roads, the problem of stopping and parking cars also arises at clearly planned parking spots. Ms. Nguyen Thi Sy, a business owner at Ga Market, said that although there is a parking space in front of the market, many vehicle owners still park their cars illegally in front of their stores, affecting the business of many households.
Many people are very upset when encountering the above situations. Some people just leave a note to "gently remind" drivers to pay attention or, more reluctantly, put up a no-stopping or parking sign right in front of their house. Of course, there are also some unfortunate cases when conflicts and loud arguments occur.

According to statistics from the provincial Traffic Police, in the past 9 months, Nghe An has registered 8,769 new cars, of which 5,048 are passenger cars. The sudden increase in the number of cars, especially in the city, not only makes the traffic infrastructure unable to keep up but also raises the issue of stopping and parking for people.
Although Vinh city has deployed and planned parking lots for cars on major roads, in alleys, small roads, and parking lots, it is still necessary to promote the self-awareness and awareness of each driver participating in traffic. Only then will parking in accordance with regulations be both orderly and contribute to gradually building a traffic culture in Vinh city that is increasingly civilized and progressive.
Vehicle drivers must also comply with the provisions of Article 19 of the Road Traffic Law when stopping or parking on the road as follows: - Vehicles must be stopped or parked close to the curb or sidewalk on the right side of the road in the direction of travel; the nearest wheel must not be more than 0.25 m from the curb or sidewalk and must not obstruct or endanger traffic. In case of narrow streets, vehicles must be stopped or parked at least 20 m away from cars parked on the other side of the road. - Do not stop or park on tram tracks, on drainage manholes, telephone or high voltage power lines, or in areas reserved for fire trucks to get water. Do not leave vehicles on the roadway or sidewalk in violation of regulations. |
