On May 14th, the AAG undersea fiber optic cable outage may be resolved.
The ship tasked with repairing the broken fiber optic cable is expected to reach the area by April 30th. The repair work could take two weeks to complete.
According to information from VNPT-I, one of the Internet operators on the AAG cable line in Vietnam, the identification of the cable break location and the repair plan have been initially completed. The cable repair ship of the AAG operator will be able to enter Vietnamese waters by April 30th.

Speaking to Zing.vn, Mr. Lam Quoc Cuong, Director of VNPT-I International Telecommunications Company, said that repairs could take two weeks. The timeframe may vary depending on weather conditions or the procedures required for the cable repair team to bring the ship into Vietnamese waters. Therefore, the estimated time for the AAG cable to be restored could be May 13-14, more than three weeks after the incident was discovered.
Besides cooperating with foreign partners to repair undersea fiber optic cables, domestic Internet service providers such as VNPT, FPT Telecom, Viettel Telecom, SPT, etc., still have to expand signal transmission channels to other land-based cable routes to reduce the load on the malfunctioning AAG cable.
"However, this measure can only partially compensate for the loss of traffic on the AAG route, as the volume lost is very large. Currently, the incident only affects broadband services. Traditional and domestic services are still operating stably," Mr. Cuong said.
