The 7th Huda Cup Student Football Tournament officially opened on May 6th.
(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of May 6th at 3 PM, the 7th Huda Cup Northern Central Region Student Football Tournament 2013 will open at the Military Zone 4 Stadium in Vinh City, Nghe An Province. The tournament will take place over 5 days, from May 6th to 11th.
To prepare for the opening ceremony, on the morning of May 5th in Vinh City, the organizing committee held its final professional meeting and drew lots to divide the teams into groups, chaired by Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc, Deputy Director of Nghe An Radio and Television Station. The Huda Cup North Central Region Student Football Tournament has become a traditional event to respond to the "National Movement for Physical Training Following the Example of the Great President Ho Chi Minh," practically commemorating the 123rd anniversary of his birth, and contributing to the development of sports and physical education among students of universities, colleges, and vocational high schools in the region.
The teams drew lots to be divided into groups.
This year's tournament features 8 teams divided into 2 groups: Group A consists of 4 teams: Duy Tan University - Da Nang City, University of Science - Hue University, Quang Binh University, and Vinh University. Group B consists of 4 teams: Faculty of Physical Education - Hue University, Hong Duc University - Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh Medical College, and Vietnam-Korea Industrial Technical Vocational College.
The tournament consists of 15 matches, including 12 qualifying matches in 2 groups played in a round-robin format to determine the top two teams from each group to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, the winner of Group A will face the runner-up of Group B, and the winner of Group B will face the runner-up of Group A. The two losing teams will share third place, while the two winning teams will compete for first and second place. On the morning of May 6th, the match will take place at 7:30 AM between Duy Tan University and the University of Science - Hue University; at 2 PM on the same day, the second match will be between the Faculty of Physical Education - Hue University and Hong Duc University. At 3 PM, the opening ceremony and the third match will be between Quang Binh University and Vinh University; the final and closing ceremonies will be held on the afternoon of May 11th, broadcast live on NTV.
