Nghe An Tourism Promotion Day in Thailand

(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of April 5, 2014, in Udon Thani City, Udon Thani Province, Thailand, the People's Committee of Nghe An Province organized the Nghe An Tourism Promotion Conference 2014.

This conference was attended by representatives from the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kean, Thailand; leaders from Khon Kean and Udon Thani provinces (Thailand); representatives from Lao and 18 provinces in Northeast Thailand; the Vietnam Business Association in Laos and Thailand; and a large number of Vietnamese expatriates in Udon Thani province. The Nghe An provincial delegation was led by Ms. Dinh Thi Le Thanh, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Leaders from Nghe An province and Udon Thani province chaired the conference.

Aiming to connect cultural and tourism spaces within the East-West economic corridor between Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand, the conference aimed to promote tourism activities and introduce and publicize the tourism potential and resources of Nghe An province. Ms. Dinh Thi Le Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, provided information on the socio-economic development of Nghe An in recent years. Furthermore, in Nghe An's economic development program, the province has focused on promoting tourism and service activities.

Accordingly, the central province of North Central Vietnam has formed tourism zones and clusters that attract a large number of domestic and international investors and tourists for sightseeing and relaxation. At the conference, representatives from Vinh City, Cua Lo Town, and Nam Dan District also introduced the tourism potential and festivals rich in cultural identity associated with the tourism space. In particular, since the beginning of 2014, with the establishment and operation of the Vinh - Vientiane international air route, the distance between Nghe An and Laos and the northeastern provinces of Thailand has been shortened, and trade promotion, tourism, and travel services have been carried out more conveniently and effectively.

Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh affirmed that Nghe An has always been a reliable and attractive destination.

Mr. Kopket Kanchana, Deputy Governor of Udon Thani Province, acknowledged the efforts of Nghe An Province in promoting tourism in Northeast Thailand.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Dinh, Consul General of Vietnam in Khon Kean province (Thailand), delivered a speech.

The conference also heard a welcoming speech from Mr. Kopket Kanchana, Deputy Governor of Udon Thani Province. The Deputy Governor highly appreciated Nghe An's efforts in introducing and promoting the image and potential of the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh to international friends. On the part of Udon Thani Province, the government and tourism management agencies will create all favorable conditions to support Vietnamese tourism activities in Northeast Thailand in general and Udon Thani Province in particular.

Furthermore, in his speech, Mr. Nguyen Huu Dinh, the Vietnamese Consul General in Khonkean Province, Thailand, affirmed that the cooperative relationship in all fields between the governments of Vietnam and Thailand has never been better than it is today. Since June 2013, the two governments have elevated their relationship to a strategic level. This is an extremely favorable condition for Vietnam and Thailand to promote exchanges and cooperation, including tourism. The geographical proximity, transportation links, and cultural similarities between Nghe An and Udon Thani, as well as other northeastern provinces of Thailand, are important prerequisites and conditions for opening up opportunities for cooperation and development.

With a proactive and receptive attitude, on behalf of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, Ms. Dinh Thi Le Thanh expressed gratitude for the attention and assistance from the Udon Thani provincial government, agencies, units, and Vietnamese expatriates in northeastern Thailand who have supported Nghe An province in successfully carrying out tourism promotion activities. The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province affirmed that the province will incorporate the feedback and gradually overcome difficulties and limitations to ensure that Nghe An remains a reliable and attractive destination.
