This 650m long asteroid JO25 will fly past Earth at an extremely close distance - about 1.8 million km.

Although small asteroids and meteorites flying past Earth are still a regular occurrence, this asteroid JO25, discovered in 2014, is still very interesting. And it will visit us at a very close distance at dawn tomorrow.

Specifically, asteroid 2014 JO25 (scientific name "The Rock") is huge, estimated to be about 650m long. This is the largest asteroid to have come close to Earth since 2014.

According to experts, JO25 is labeled "dangerous" and will come closest to Earth at a distance of 1.8 million km, only 4 times the distance from Earth to the Moon.

It sounds alarming, but don't panic, because this asteroid will pass by us at a safe distance. However, the interesting thing is that you can see it from your own home, through a telescope.

"While there is no risk of this asteroid colliding with Earth, this would be a very close encounter for an asteroid of this size with our planet," a NASA press release reported.

Asteroid 2014 JO25 will continue its journey toward the solar system after passing by Earth. And it will not pass by Earth again until around the year 2600.

Good news for those who love astronomy and want to explore JO25, you can absolutely admire the scene of the asteroid passing by the Earth with your small telescope at 11:00 UTC on April 19 (ie 7:30 am on April 20 Vietnam time)! If you don't have the equipment, you can watch it live on NASA's website.
