According to statistics from the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), on the second day of the 2026 New Year's holiday, 71 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, resulting in 41 deaths.

On the afternoon of January 2nd, representatives from the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) provided information on the traffic order and safety situation on the second day of the 2026 New Year's holiday.

Accordingly, 71 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, resulting in 41 deaths and 56 injuries. Compared to the same period in 2025, the number of accidents increased by 1, the number of deaths decreased by 3, while the number of injuries increased by 8.

During the same period, the police in 34 provinces and cities handled 11,285 violations, temporarily seizing 82 cars, 3,633 motorbikes, and 102 other vehicles. Of these, drunk driving violations accounted for the most with 3,373 cases; speeding violations accounted for 1,670 cases; and drug-related violations accounted for 7 cases.

Specifically in Hanoi, from 6 PM on December 31, 2025 to 6 PM on January 1, 2026,AI-powered camera systemThe Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police (AI) recorded 109 cases of traffic safety violations.

According to statistics, among the detected violations, there were 31 cars and 78 motorcycles. The main violations included: failing to obey traffic light signals, using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a helmet, and several other violations.
