Making air conditioner from plastic bottles, reducing 5 degrees in summer
Instructions for making cheap air conditioner for 200 thousand VND
The ingredients needed to prepare are extremely simple, costing only about 250,000 VND, including:
- A piece of copper pipe diameter 6 about long
- A 6V DC motor
- A USB jack that can be cut from a broken mouse or keyboard to get power. A styrofoam box measuring 30x25x25 cm.
- A piece of flexible PVC pipe, diameter 6, about 150cm long
- 10 zip ties
- A thin piece of aluminum or steel to make the pump impeller.
- A large bottle cap, and 2 small corks to make suction and discharge pipes for the pump.
- A small piece of plastic to seal the pump chamber.
- Tools to do this: box cutter, scissors, glue stick.
Implementation process:
Step 1:
Use a pen to divide the aluminum into 8 equal parts.

Use a piece of aluminum, divide into 8 equal parts as shown. Then cut along the black line and fold along the red line.
Then cut and fold along the drawn lines to form a fan shape. Cut and adjust to fit the cork to get a complete fan.

You should use a compass to draw a circle with a diameter about 3 to 4 mm smaller than the prepared bottle cap to make cutting easier.
Then use hot glue to attach the fan blades to the shaft.
We will get the pump impeller.

Use hot glue to attach the fan blades to the shaft. |
Next, punch a hole in the center, place the gear piece in, and use hot glue to secure it to the fan blade.
Step 2
Punch a hole in the center of the bottle cap to attach the motor to the cap. Then place the motor in and use hot glue to fix the motor to the bottle cap.
Apply hot glue to the outside to make it watertight, but do not let the glue touch the shaft.
Apply hot glue to the outside to make it watertight, but do not let the glue touch the shaft.
Then punch a hole on the side of the bottle cap to attach the water line to the pump.
Step 3

Inject glue between the plastic piece and the bottle cap to seal the pump cavity. Then use a box cutter to cut off the excess plastic piece for a nice look. Or don't cut it, it won't affect anything.
Cut a piece of plastic that fits the bottom of the bottle cap, punch a hole in the center to make a water intake and use hot glue to fix it to the bottle cap.

Punch a hole in the center of the fan blade to make a suction line. Place a bottle cap with a hole in it to create space for water to enter when placed upside down on the bottom of the styrofoam box.
Step 4
Connect the 2 red and black wires of the USB cable (there are 2 wires, usually the power cord is the red and black wire) to the 2 poles of the motor. We have finished the mini water pump.
Step 5
Wrap the copper pipe into concentric circles and attach it to the fan with zip ties. After finishing, cut off the excess wire to make it neat. Cut the 6mm PVC pipe into two pieces about 70cm long and connect them to the two ends of the copper pipe.
Step 6

The output of the copper pipe flows back into the foam box to form a circulation loop. |
Put ice and a little water in the styrofoam box so that there is enough water to run one round through the copper pipe to the styrofoam box. Connect the plastic pipe to the water outlet of the pump and plug the USB cable into the backup battery (you can use a phone charger with a USB port) to operate the pump.
Now you just need to turn on the pump and fan and sit back and enjoy. You should also close the door so that the cold air is not affected by the hot air outside.

And this is our result after completing the above steps. |
Cooling principle
In this homemade fan, cold water is pumped from a Styrofoam box containing ice by a pump through a copper pipe mounted on the fan, where the cold water and the pump will work together to continuously cool the copper pipe. The fan blowing behind the copper pipe will carry the cold air outside the pipe out into the room.
