On Tet holiday, boat owner "forgot" to register and carried more people than allowed
(Baonghean.vn) - Unable to present a technical safety certificate and carrying more people than allowed, boat owner Tran Dinh Thai was fined 2.7 million VND.
Implementing the official dispatch on strengthening the work of ensuring traffic safety on inland waterways during the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival 2018, the inspection force of Nghe An Department of Transport organized the inspection of passenger transport on waterways.

At 11:30 a.m. on February 13, at Phuong ferry terminal (Thanh Giang commune, Thanh Chuong, Nghe An), the working group led by Mr. Phan Huy Chuong - Deputy Chief Inspector of the Department of Transport as team leader discovered that the passenger ferry with license plate NA - 6718 driven by Mr. Tran Dinh Thai (born in 1960, residing in Thanh Giang commune) had many violations.
Specifically, Mr. Tran Dinh Thai could not present the vehicle’s technical safety and environmental protection certificate as prescribed for motor vehicles with a total main engine capacity of 5-12 people. According to regulations, this type of vehicle can only carry a maximum of 12 people, but at the time of inspection, there were 24 people and the vehicle on the boat.

The working group drew up a record of administrative violations and fined Mr. Tran Dinh Thai 2.7 million VND for both of the above acts.
In addition, during this inspection, many passengers were found to have “forgotten” to wear life jackets when taking the boat. The working group reminded the boat owner and passengers to comply with regulations on inland waterway safety to avoid unfortunate incidents.
