(Baonghean.vn) - Prolonged heavy rain due to storm No. 6 has caused severe damage to many localities in Nghe An.

According to the report of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and ControlNghe AnAs of September 25, heavy rain has caused a lot of damage to localities.

About people, the flood caused one person to go missing, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hieu, born in 1990, residing in Hamlet 1, Nghia Binh Commune, Tan Ky District.

The whole province has 696flooded house(Nghia Dan: 81; Quynh Luu: 574; Yen Thanh: 41); 82 households had to evacuate due to flooding and landslides (Quynh Luu: 41; Nghia Dan: 32, Con Cuong: 08; Tuong Duong: 01); 05 solid houses were flooded by landslides (Tuong Duong: 04; Que Phong: 01); 01 semi-solid house collapsed (Nghia Dan).

The floods also killed and swept away 5,394 poultry (Quynh Luu: 4,660; Quy Chau: 34; Nghia Dan: 500; Yen Thanh: 200); 8 cattle died (Quynh Luu). Foraquaculture778.16 hectares of small ponds and lakes were damaged (Con Cuong: 0.5; Dien Chau: 343.0; Nghia Dan: 90.06; Quy Chau: 15.0; Quynh Luu: 222.0; Yen Thanh: 46.6; Thanh Chuong: 17.0; Hoang Mai Town: 44.0); 71.0 hectares of shrimp were damaged (Quynh Luu).

Abouttraffic worksUnder local management, 37 bridges were flooded and cut off (Con Cuong: 07; Tan Ky: 04; Quy Chau: 13; Yen Thanh: 01; Que Phong: 12); 11 bridges, spillways, and small traffic culverts were damaged (Nghia Dan: 08; Que Phong: 01; Thanh Chuong: 01; Tuong Duong: 01) and washed away; 7.89 km of local roads were eroded and landslides (Que Phong: 3.07 km; Nghia Dan: 4.5 km; Quy Chau: 0.01 km; Tuong Duong: 0.01 km; Yen Thanh: 0.3 km).

Regarding other infrastructure works, 1,545 meters of fences collapsed (Quynh Luu: 593m; Nghia Dan: 870m; Thanh Chuong: 42m; Yen Thanh: 40m); 400m2Landslide (Tuong Duong).

On the evening of September 25, the Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 30/CD-UBND on focusing on responding to and overcoming the consequences of floods, in which it noted relevant localities and units:

- Check, review, prepare planensure safetyDike systems, lakes, dams, especially works under construction or damaged, degraded...

- Strictly manage and guide traffic at ferry terminals; traffic routes, culverts, and spillways that are flooded or eroded; set up markers, assign people to be on duty, guard, block roads, divide traffic, and guide traffic to ensure absolute safety for people and vehicles participating in traffic.

- Propagate and instruct people on skills to ensure safety and limit risks during floods; strictly prohibit people from collecting firewood, fishing, etc. on rivers, streams, downstream lakes, and dams during floods to avoid human casualties; pay special attention and monitor children living in affected areas.
- Immediately check and review residential areas, agency headquarters, workplaces, and unit stations, and resolutely relocate them.evacuationPeople, vehicles and property out of dangerous areas, especially areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, and inundation.
- Timely visit and encourage families with accident victims, policy families, and families that suffered heavy losses during the flood.

- After rain and flood, guide people to help each otherdamage remediationon housing, property, environmental sanitation, disinfection, sterilization, treatment to ensure domestic water in flooded areas; restore production of rice, corn, and flooded vegetables; repair schools, and restore clean water facilities to serve people's daily life.
