Nghe An: 11 months, more than 200 medical checkups

(Baonghean.vn) - As of the end of November 2017, the whole province had over 4.2 million medical examinations and treatments, with the amount of money requested for payment being over VND2,900 billion. Notably, some people showed signs of abusing the health insurance fund, going to the doctor hundreds of times with the amount of money paid by the health insurance reaching tens of millions of VND.

Through reviewing data, the provincial Social Insurance discovered that many people had an unusually high number of medical examinations. A typical case is Mr. Tran Huy H. who went to the hospital 207 times, the amount paid by the health insurance fund was more than 36.2 million VND; Mr. Nguyen Huu N. had 149 medical examinations, the health insurance fund paid up to 70 million VND. Both have permanent residence in Vinh City.

In these cases, the staff of the provincial Social Insurance and Vinh City Social Insurance have met, talked, and promoted the purpose, meaning of social security and community benefits of the Health Insurance Fund many times, but awareness is still very limited.

“We cannot forbid them from going to the hospital. When they go to the hospital, doctors and nurses still have to examine them and prescribe medicine,” said a provincial social insurance officer.

In November 2017, the Health Insurance Fund paid a "huge" amount of money for medical examination and treatment for many patients. Notably, Mr. Le Ngoc X. (1938) suffered from ischemic heart disease, and the Health Insurance Fund paid 410 million VND; Mr. Lang Van T. (1948) suffered from malignant liver and intrahepatic bile duct tumors, and the fund paid 374 million VND.

The youngest child patient to receive the largest amount of medical examination and treatment expenses from the Health Insurance Fund in 11 months of 2017 was Dang Anh K. (2015), who had a seizure due to fever, with a payment of 373 million VND./.
