Nghe An: Three cooperative officials prosecuted for abuse of power and authority.
(Baonghean.vn) - On September 17, the Investigation Police Agency of Nghe An Province served indictment decisions and issued travel bans against three defendants, Cao Thanh Long, Dinh Tien Dung, and Bui Van Son, for the crime of abusing their positions and authority in the performance of their official duties.
Previously, tooFollowing an investigation into the violations that occurred at Kim Lien Cooperative, Dien Kim commune, Dien Chau district, on August 26, 2021, the Criminal Investigation Agency of Nghe An Provincial Police (Economic Police Department) issued a decision to initiate criminal proceedings.Abusing one's position and authority while performing official duties.This occurred at Kim Lien Cooperative.

Following the initiation of the case, the Economic Police Department launched an investigation and determined that the three defendants, Cao Thanh Long (born in 1960), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kim Lien Cooperative; Bui Van Son (born in 1965), Deputy Director of Kim Lien Cooperative; and Dinh Tien Dung (born in 1959), Accountant of Kim Lien Cooperative, all residing in Dien Kim commune, Dien Chau district, had taken advantage of Nghe An province's regulations on implementing policies to support salt-producing households in the area to conspire and agree to create fraudulent documents in order to obtain support funds for salt-producing households in Dien Kim commune, Dien Chau district.
The fabricated documents signed by the individuals included: applications for salt policy implementation; minutes of village meetings to select households eligible for improved filtration systems or crystallization pond lining; facility acceptance minutes; lists of households and individuals participating in the policy to support the construction of filtration systems or crystallization pond lining; and lists of payments to household owners participating in the salt policy.

The falsification of payment records for the aforementioned support funds was not discussed with representatives of the Kim Lien Cooperative, the Supervisory Board, or the treasurer, who were unaware of it and not consulted. Based on the statements of the suspects and the evidence, the Provincial Police Investigation Agency determined that from 2017 to 2020, the Board of Directors of the Kim Lien Cooperative falsified records to request support for the construction of 151 improved filtration systems for 96 cooperative members in Bac Lien, Kim Lien, and Nam Lien hamlets, Dien Kim commune, causing a loss of 453 million VND to the State.

After the case was clarified by the investigating agency, the defendants voluntarily compensated for all the damages caused and actively cooperated with the Police Investigation Agency.
The Economic Police Department (Nghe An Provincial Police) is currently continuing to investigate and resolve the case.
