Nghe An: 4 boats sunk at sea due to tornado were rescued safely
(Baonghean.vn) - A sudden tornado hit, causing three fishing boats of fishermen from Nam Thinh and Bac Thinh hamlets, Nghi Thiet commune, Nghi Loc district, who were fishing for squid to capsize. Nearby fishing boats discovered it and rushed to the rescue. Unfortunately, one of the boats capsized and sank as well.
On the morning of September 3, the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district set up a working group to visit and encourage four families in two hamlets, Bac Thinh and Nam Thinh, Nghi Thiet commune, whose boats were capsized at sea due to a tornado on the afternoon of September 2.
Before that, at 5:00 p.m. on September 2, fishing boats of 10-12 horsepower of fishermen from two hamlets: Bac Thinh and Nam Thinh left the port and went out to the open sea about 2 km from the shore to fish for squid.

About 30 minutes later, while the boats were fishing for squid, a tornado suddenly struck, causing three fishing boats of Mr. Nguyen Van Truong and Mr. Nguyen Van Chung in Nam Thinh hamlet and Mr. Nguyen Van Lam in Bac Thinh hamlet to capsize and sink.
Other fishermen who were fishing for squid nearby saw the incident and immediately ran to the rescue. While moving to the scene, unfortunately, Mr. Nguyen Van Lam's boat, also from Bac Thinh hamlet, capsized and sank.
Fortunately, the four fishermen who fell into the sea all knew how to swim, so they were able to float and wait for other boats to come and rescue them safely.
After rescuing the people, the fishermen salvaged three fishing boats that had sunk due to the tornado and towed them to shore. However, the boat of Mr. Nguyen Van Lam that sank has not been found yet.
Visiting the families whose boats sank, the leaders of Nghi Loc District People's Committee praised the fishermen's timely rescue spirit, hoping that the families would soon overcome the problem and stabilize production. The District People's Committee supported each family whose boat sank due to the tornado with 3 million VND. In particular, Mr. Nguyen Van Lam's family, whose boat sank but has not been found, received 5 million VND in support.
By noon on September 3, Cua Lo Border Guard Station coordinated with fishermen from Nam and Bac Thinh hamlets to find and salvage Nguyen Van Lam's family boat and bring it ashore.
