Nghe An: 79.6% of people diagnosed with HIV receive ARV treatment

Attending the conference were comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Department of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control, Ministry of Health; representatives of sponsors of HIV/AIDS prevention projects; leaders of departments, branches; Medical centers of districts, cities and towns.

As of June 30, 2018, Nghe An province has detected 9,594 HIV cases, among the highest in the country; currently, nearly 5,000 people infected with HIV are still alive and under management.

Nghe An is one of the first 5 provinces in the country selected to implement the 90-90-90 Program. After 3 years of implementation, Nghe An's HIV/AIDS prevention network has been expanded and developed in depth.

Professional staff at all levels have been trained and their professional skills have been gradually improved. 100% of district-level general hospitals have established HIV/AIDS clinics, receiving and treating ARV and connecting medical examination and treatment with health insurance for infected people.

The Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 26/2017/QD-UBND dated January 24, 2017 on the regulation of the level of financial support for health insurance premiums and co-payment costs for HIV-infected people who are eligible for 100% health insurance coverage in medical examination and treatment. Mobile activities on counseling, testing, treatment and dispensing of ARV drugs at the commune level... have been effectively implemented.

By the end of the second quarter of 2018, 82.6% of people infected with HIV in the province knew their status; 79.6% of people diagnosed with HIV were receiving ARV treatment; 92.5% of people on ARV treatment had viral loads below the suppression threshold.

In order to effectively prevent HIV/AIDS in the province, Nghe An province requests that donors have a suitable transfer roadmap to the province so that HIV/AIDS prevention activities can achieve the best results.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 8 collectives and 8 individuals with outstanding achievements in HIV/AIDS prevention and control in recent times./.
