Nghe An: Security and order on New Year's Eve and the first day of Tet are guaranteed

That is the assessment of Nghe An Provincial Police at the meeting on security and order situation on New Year's Eve and the first day of Lunar New Year 2018 on the afternoon of February 16 (the first day of Lunar New Year).

On the night of the 30th and the first day of the Lunar New Year, the weather was very favorable for people to celebrate the New Year, the traffic volume was high, but thanks to proactively doing a good job of regulating and dividing traffic, the traffic order and safety situation before and after New Year's Eve was smooth, without congestion.

Nghe An Provincial Police mobilized maximum forces and means to absolutely ensure the safety of the art program welcoming the Spring of Mau Tuat 2018 at Ho Chi Minh Square and the Tet and spring activities of the people in the area; deployed 08 working groups to inspect the implementation of the on-duty regime of officers and soldiers and to ensure security and order, and prevent violations of fireworks on New Year's Eve; increased 234 officers and soldiers from the provincial Public Security Departments to key areas of Vinh City to coordinate in preventing fireworks, ensuring security and order on New Year's Eve.

Thanks to that, the illegal firecrackers on New Year's Eve were controlled and limited. Professional units, police of districts and cities organized armed patrols 24/24h on key routes and areas and investigated and clarified 1 case, 2 subjects of property snatching; 01 case, 01 subject of property theft; 02 cases, 2 subjects of illegal possession of drugs; 02 cases, 16 subjects of gambling...

Determining that the Tet holiday is still long, and there are many spring activities, New Year celebrations, and festivals taking place in the whole province, Nghe An Provincial Police thoroughly informed the Police of districts, cities, and towns about the need to continue to promote the implementation of the peak of the fight against crime, strengthen the work of grasping the situation, proactively prevent, attack, and suppress all types of crimes, especially crimes and social evils that often occur during Tet such as murder, intentional injury, robbery, snatching, theft, gambling, etc., and deploy plans to ensure traffic safety and public order to serve people's safe travel.
