Previously, in early June 2022, through professional work, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police discovered a large-scale firecracker trafficking ring led by Ngo Dinh Manh (born in 1982), residing in Dien Ky commune, Dien Chau district. Manh used to work as a bus assistant in Laos.
While working as a bus assistant, Manh colluded with some people to buy firecrackers in Laos at cheap prices, then transported them to Vietnam to sell for profit.
Through surveillance, the police identified that among the “customers” who often bought firecrackers from Manh were Tran Van Phu and Pham Van Nhat. Notably, Tran Van Phu had a previous conviction (with a suspended sentence) for trafficking in prohibited goods (firecrackers).
